1. Introduction

The VidyoGateway and VidyoGateway Virtual Edition (VE) (both of which will be referred to as the VidyoGateway in the remainder of the documentation) connect VidyoPortal users with users on systems using the SIP and H.323 video conferencing protocols. The systems that use these protocols are sometimes referred to as legacy systems.

Most of the topics in the VidyoGateway section of the Vidyo Help describe how to use the VidyoGateway to connect with a video conferencing system that includes H.323/SIP systems. These topics are written for system administrators who must set up and maintain a video conferencing system using a VidyoGateway.

To perform the setup and configuration for the VidyoGateway, you must have Admin access to your VidyoGateway and Super Admin access to your VidyoPortal. If you are not a cloud-only customer, you must install your own VidyoGateway VE. For more information about how to do so, refer to the VidyoGateway Virtual Edition section of the Help.

For definitions of many of the terms used in the VidyoGateway topics, refer to the Glossary of terms.
