The new breakout rooms feature enables the call moderator to separate the call participants into smaller groups. This feature is especially useful in situations where there are privacy concerns but call participants still need to speak openly. For example:
In a medical environment, a doctor may want to talk to a patient in one breakout room and consult with other medical professionals in another room.
In a judicial environment, an attorney may want to discuss a case with a defendant in one breakout room and with judicial assistants in another room.
WebRTC users of breakout rooms can only join as non-moderating participants.
Participants can be moved to breakout rooms, request help from the moderator, and receive broadcast messages from the moderator, but only if they’re on this latest version of VidyoConnect for WebRTC.
To use breakout rooms, you must have VidyoPortal version 23.1.1 or later as well as VidyoConnect for Desktop version 23.1.0 or later.
Participants on WebRTC versions older than 23.1.0 can join the conferences, but they cannot be moved to breakout rooms. The moderator is made aware of this fact so they can communicate accordingly.
